Back in 1903, a hometown insurance company planted its roots in North Dakota with the philosophy that if you did the right thing for your customers, the business and the customer would both grow and prosper. Today, that company is known as American West Insurance.

Fast forward to the twenty-first century. The neighborhood is a little bigger—several states, in fact—the services are more sophisticated, but the philosophy is the same.

In 1986, the company was incorporated as a stock company and licensed to do business in eight states; Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington and Wisconsin. Today American West Insurance is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nodak Mutual Insurance Company— friend to the rural community for several generations.

American West Insurance serves farmers and ranchers with agents strategically located nearby our customers. Through independent agents, we provide Crop-Hail, and MPCI insurance in Minnesota and South Dakota plus Farm & Ranch (F&R), F&R Excess Liability and F&R Auto in South Dakota.
